I was just getting excited about trout combat in the annual December trout derby when I went looking for a definitive date...

Well, I guess everyone is hurting and the winter derby is dead though the spring derby is still a go. Here's the press release with new day use and camping fee increases. OUCH!

Now what, Amador? Camanche? Collins?

Bummer. Was there a boat fee before this change?

Interesting that the so called purpose of the changes is to "....reduce costs...." The major changes are the doubling of charges to use the facilities. Cheaper to use Delta launches and/or fish from the bank/float tubes in the sloughs....

I wonder if the $15 fee for boats includes float tubes.

This is the best thing that has ever happened to Rancho Seco. It'll really thin out the bucket brigade.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.....The Dec. trout derby was a fun, and a crazy weekend if you fished it.....after the derby was my favorite time to fish for those large trout....it would give me a couple of months of fishing for big trout that was 30 min. from my house.....just another sad lost

Thing is the bucket brigade came out for the derby fish. No derby, no fish! Only the DFG Dinks. Now they'll crowd Ma+her (well, I guess there's no stopping that really...).

Oh well, I'll be there in the spring.

As for the boat fee, if they don't see you at the booth with a "boat" I'll bet you're fine with a generaly day-use. I ain't payin' for a tube!
