Just returned from fishing Eagle Lake on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with Brian Roccucci (www.bigdaddyfishing.com). We launched out of Spaulding. As advertised, the lake is very low. When launching, the right hand side is your best bet. The left hand side of the ramp has a pretty good drop off, but still o.k. When they dredged it out they left a small hump as you leave the ramp that read 1.7f. on Brian's graph. The depth going out is @2-2 1/2 ft. for quite a distance...be careful. We fished the north basin for most of our time. I would say the fishing was very good. Some of the fish looked like some of those tiger trout;very cool. The air temp in the morning ranged from 23F. to 32F. on our three days. The water temps in the north was @41F. in the morning and climbed up to @43F. in the afternoons. We did fish the south lake a little and temps there were @5-7 degrees warmer. Fished a dry line most of the time since the north end of the lake is so shallow. Jay Fair wiggle nymphs in olive, burnt orange, and rust all fished well. I sure hope we have a wet year up there or else next year may mean float tubes and wading because the launch ramp at Spaulding is getting pretty skinny. B.T.W., when they dredged the ramp, they took it down to the rocks so they can't go any further down.
