Well not really a review...the thread on "Participation" led me to want to share a book I'm reading. "An Entirely Synthetic Fish" by Anders Halverson recounts the history of how rainbow trout became so ubiquitous across our planet.

The most interesting thing about this book are the parallels to our current situation, where so many people are sure they have the "right" solution. The fishery managers (hatchery managers?) that wiped out numerous native fisheries in favor of rainbow trout thought they were doing the right thing too...

None of it is simple, but better that we make informed decisions on the trade-offs.
