I have a old Okuma plastic reel that I have been using out at Pyramid and it was working ok but the drag is not working that great anymore. I have a few other decent reels that I was thinking about using instead but they are not plastic they are all metal.
Will the salt water at Pyramid shorten the life of a metal reel? I wash all my equipment with fresh water as soon as I get home and I also clean my line.

All good saltwater equipment is metal. As long as you buy a decent reel and take care of it, you'll get years of service. I have fished a number of Ross models in salt, as well as Redingtons, Islanders, etc.
Any good modern reel will do the job at Pyramid.

If you wash your reels off with warm water after each use at Pyramid you will be oaky, however it will still eventually eat away at parts that can corrode. I can't tell you how many reels I have seen that had the drags seized up from the water out there. I would suggest getting something with a sealed drag system.
