Middle Rogue Steelhead

This AM got beat to a favorite run so no fishing. This PM above Grants Pass caught & released this 22" wild fish on my bead head nymph. In a previous post was asked if I swing-sorry but I am an indicator fisherman.

Hey Gordon, you may have answered this in another thread but how do you like to rig your indicator set up on the spey rod and what line do you like to throw it with?

I use a Rio Wind Cutter. I use about a total leader length of about 13 feet. Bottom fly is a Size 8 bead head nymph. Then 18" up tie in a weighted glo bug and then about 18"s further up put on a split shot. My indicator is a white Thingamagig. I think the key is first a river with plenty of steelhead, second the ability to read water and last you must constantly mend to have a drag free float.

I get a lot of question about nymphing rigs and spey rods but not to many people have it dialed.

That is a parasite on the jaw of this fish. Not a retread.
