You can catch Steelhead on a fly "almost" 12 months of the year in Nor Cal but my favorite months are September through June on the "long" rivers.

If we have big flooding in the winter it will usually ruin the spring fishing.

Short coastal rivers need more rain so they can be "about" December through February.

**This can be a wonderful time to go right now after some of the first rain and the water is still not below 50 degrees.

All rivers have their own average timing depending on the year and the weather though.

Salmon are in many of the valley rivers right now so the steelhead should be right in there too.
