Theres a local lake thats stuffed full of 10" salmon smolt. They stock them as fingerlings in the spring and theres 10s of 1000s of them. I discovered there was an eagle that loves hand outs along the east shore. I took up my new Nikon DSLR and proceeded to limit on salmon smolt. Letting all the trout go. I gave my limit to my new friend. I am greatly lacking in photography skills, so "cooperative" wild life really is appreciated :-)

Wow, awesome shots Jay! I like the spray of water left behind in the 1st one but I think the 2nd one is my favorite. All 3 are great shots, though, looks like you got a great camera. 8)8)8)

On a side note, Chuck Norris is a puss. Bruce Lee kicked his butt.

Sweet pics, but if I understand your post correctly, is feeding the bird really in it's best interest?

I like the mountain/eagle/wooden cross effect here.

I never tire at these types of shots. I do witness it often at Lake Siskiyou. There are a couple of resident bald eagles, and many osprey to keep it intresting. Once again, nice shots.

Thanks for sharing those "cutting room floor" pics Jay! I think some of those are every bit as nice as the others. I especially like how in that last photo where the eagle is angling toward the camera how it keeps its head level despite the nearing-vertical orientation of the wings -- very cool shot!

Jay,.... Great photo's. You may not know it but you were photographing a rare bird there. It's called an Iggle. Patrick McManus provided a great description of this bird in one of his books. Iggles soar, like yours, and catch fish, too. Many times, I suppose, to the ambarassment of anglers who're unable to match the fishing, flying capabilities of the competition (....obviously, you're not in the company of that group :D ). Iggles sometimes step up to impersonate one of our national symbols when needed....

Keep up the good work.... =D>

After outlawing DDT and giving these birds some protection they have made a big comeback all over.

Cool photos............thanks
