Well, we've been here two days and having a blast. Yesterday the fishing was pretty slow for every one and that includes the conventional fishermen. The water was a little bumpy with a slight breeze. We ended up with 4 dorado, a couple small roosters and a couple jacks. My largest jack was around 18lbs to 20lbs and a couple small yellow tail snappers.
Today was a different story. The water was bumpy going across to the island from Muertos Bay. The bait is heavy in Muertos but our bait guys were at the island with bait in the tank just waiting for us. Our plan was to fish the island for roosters. We were the only boats in the area due to the fact that all the conventional boats headed to Punta Gorda for tuna and dorado. We fished the East side for a while then we motored to the channel in search of dorado. On the way, Ramon stopped and said that a few tuna were caught in the area by his PaPa yesterday. He threw out a hand full of bait and all of a sudden the dorado were every where. We hooked a couple then headed to the buoys. The first buoy we pulled in on went wild. Dorado were everywhere and no one in site. We boated a couple for dinner tonight and then went on to check out the other buoys. The second buoy had nothing so on to the next buoy, A few dorado made some quick splashes but didn't want to play. The third buoy - all hell broke loose. We had dorado, coming from here there and everywhere. My partner had one on and I opted to do some video footage, got some underwater shots of the fish. This lasted 15 minutes and they were gone. It was getting close to noon so we started back to Muertos but checking all the buoys. The buoy where we tied up a skippie had a big number of dorado swimming around it. But the secret was to drift towards the buoy. Lot's of fish caught and released at this buoy. Then Ramon's PaPa told him to try the buoy by the big house.
I thought all hell broke loose at that one buoy, this was mayhem. There had to be 200 dorado in and around the buoy, some small (5lbs to 8lbs) and some in the teens and twenty range. We boated a 25lb and a 18lb and released alot of 10lb fish. Darian and Renee stopped by the same buoy and they also took in the action. Renee was amazed at how many fish were there.
We called it a day, no a good day. The weather was a little warmer today, the humidity wasn't too bad.

The conventional guys had some big tuna being cleaned. We might try that tomorrow.

Look for more reports

Here's some photo's from yesterday and this afternoon. Now what da ya say.
Most of the dorado are in big schools and right outside Muertos Bay. Today, we had big schools of big dorado. A lot in the mid to high 20's, a bunch of teeners. The water was a little bumpy this morning but laid flat around 10am. Tomorrow we are heading north to Punta Gorda, that's north of El Sargento. Lot's of tuna with some in shallow waters. Saw some around 65lbs being cleaned. 65lbs on a 10wt, that ought to be fun.

Enjoy the two photo's. i'll be posting video footage when I get home

Nice fish, I miss that place already. Maybe I will be able to go back in about 2 years.
