Headed out before dawn to a local valley river on Saturday. There were quite a few salmon but none paired up on redds so the steelies weren't keying in on egg paterns. Ended up catching 2 halfpounders and LDRed another one. Both were wild and were hooked on a dead drifted PT.

Welcome Smitty! Nice to run into you at Lower Sunrise last week. My advice on casting is to get a lesson (group or private) from one of our local two-handed instructors. I've taken a couple of classes from Jeff Putnam. Bill Lowe is another good instructor. If I see you out on the water, I could give you some help too.

Hey smitty, if you have a TFO Deer Creek 6wt switch with a 450 skagit flight head, that is going to be your problem. To heavy of a head. I throw a 450-475 skagit on my 7wt TFO Deer Creek Switch.

Remember, slow down.

Every time I hear or see someone saying to "slow down", all I can think of is Jim Isnatoski taking his drivers exam on the tv show Taxi. Has to be one of the funniest scenes ever.

This is from our Kiene's Online Spey Store

We recommend a 420-425 grain Skagit for the 6 weight Deer Creek TFO Switch rod.

Like Charlie mentioned we have all sizes of Rio and Airflo Skagits (plus lots of other Spey lines) that people can borrow to dial in their rods.

Rio has a 400 Skagit Flight Head that is 23ft long coming out very very soon. That would be perfect for that rod.
