First day i fished Frenchman lake north end (temp. 60) for a couple of hours, the storm stirred up the shallow water....only 2ft. visible, the southend of Frenchman down by the main boat ramp the water was a lot clearer, with 8000 freshly planted trout...and no i didn't have time to fish this. Fri. i fished Davis Lake (temp. 56)...I found this special place that i caught so many fish that i quit counting...most fish ran 15-19 inches...floating line, very long leader, and a damsel fly worked for me...Sat. was opening day duck season, also some people saw me sticking all those fish, and the word got out...it got tooo crowded for me... but i sent Scott V. into the special place...i caught 9 fish looking around for another special place...Sun. i went to Cow to find a new special place with Jim Holmes...ran into some of the expert locals...so i knew i was in a good place....fishing was a little slow only landed 5 fish....but i did find another special place, but the fish didn't like my fly...a guide from Truckee Joe Heuseveldt said a green callibaetis was what i needed.
A fish with a story...i made a 50 ft cast to this fish on the surface it came over for a look...i keep stripping...the trout was swimming all around the fly...i tryed speeding it up, slowing it down, pause strip, trout was still looking at my fly...the leader started coming in to the guide....trout still looking...running out of line, what should i do next...i striped a couple of more times...i was setting in a weed bed so the trout didn't see me...with 3 ft. of leader out the end of the rod i started to rase the rod and bring the fly to the surface....and the trout finial grab the fly.

Thanks for the report Gene, that cove is a special place as well as the other one north of there. Jay Fair spent alot of his time at those areas, there is also some pretty good springs in there as well and when they have more water in them they fish even better. I bet you heard my trout dog Madison barking up a storm on every hook up on Friday, he loves the game!
