Reporting a little late but got busy. Went down to fish the yuba last Thursday to see if the egg drop was under way. 2nd cast high sticking an egg pattern through the shallows behind some Salmon and I have on a typical Yuba rocket. 2 great jumps and a screaming run and he was off. Looked to be over 20 inches. Got another 4-5 more fish after that before I had to go home, none the size of the first one on. Lots of Salmon in the river and just starting to settle onto the redds so the fishing should only get better in the next couple weeks. A little weather would help.
Had a first for me on the Yuba ( see picture). I caught this 19" fin clipped fish on a bead head PT. I have fished the Yuba for about 15 + years and this is the first fin clipped fish I have caught there. Anyone else caught one on the Y? Where do they come from ? There is no hatchery or planting program on the Y that I know of.

It's great to see the increase in returning salmon. It about broke my heart to see the bottom fall out of the run these last few years. As for the hatchery fish, I have on two other occasions caught fin-clipped fish on the Y. I attribute them to errant Feather River fish.

See you on the water, J.

I have caught a few clipped fish on the Yuba as well. I caught this clipped beast up there a few years ago.
