I fished Baum lake Wednesday and Thursday for the first time in my life. I caught quite a few fish on mayfly and midge nymphs, and a few on a #18 cripple. The weather was cool and overcast so there were some baetis out. The report from Vaughn's was that most of the fish were close to the inlet from crystal lake due to a lack of flow from Hat Creek. So that's where I fished. (Thanks guys for the pontoon boat anchor advice). Thursday afternoon was spent on a couple of small creeks in the area. One was loaded with brookies all lit up in fall colors. Had a greta time there. Of course I need to spend more time on Baum to get to know it better. Hopefully I will get up there later this winter.
