My son turns three next week. I thought I had been raising him right...leading by example...teaching him right from wrong, good from bad. Then, this weekend, I walked into the bathroom and saw this...

The problem you ask? He only likes looking at the saltwater flies! I'm hopeful that this is just a phase that he will soon grow out of. I can't afford to raise a saltwater angler so I have a few short years to turn him into a trout bum and backcountry explorer like his dad. Wish me luck.

Maybe he was just going to wipe with those pages?

Under my waders, I wear a shirt just like that, for steelheading.

Well Ben if you can't "break" him send him over. My girls, at least two of them, turned out to be trout bums. Or is it bumettes? Wouldn't toss a fly in the surf if it was the last water on earth. They think the beach is for laying around on. Don't know where I went wrong.

Good luck!

Ben, that's hillarious! Looks like me sitting on the pot with my trout rag.

My 2 year old does it with her I-touch watching movies and playing her educational games.

I can't wait to show this to my wife, she's going to fall over laughing.

He's just looking for a good striper pattern, nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't be too alarmed. Great photo, though, definitely one for his fishing album.

Living in Stockton without a boat is difficult enough...if my son tells me that he wants to start chasing stripers, it will become unbearable!

My daughter will turn 1 shortly after her brother turns 3. I already have her on the right path.

That's what beer cozies were originally invented for....right?
