Just got back from 4 days of fishing Davis Lake....with the water temp. at 60 degrees at 8 am in the main bay of Mosquito and the shallow (1 1/2ft.) water at 57 degrees....with the colded nights the shallow water gets about 3 degrees colder then the main body of water. Don't expect big numbers of fish this year....i average 9 fish days....most of the trout were 15-17 inches with a couple of 19 inches, and if the fish gods shine on you will hook into a toad....i lost 2 toads on this trip. A floating line, 18ft. leader, and a 3 inch cinnamon wiggle tail worked for me....if the water temp. is down look for the trout in the channels between the weed beds and the shallow water flats....also i found some strange amber color fish
eggs....i think....does anyone know what this might be?????

Thanks for the report Gene...I haven't been out since last week. I saw the same thing over on the west side along the shore and wondered what the heck they were.

Great shots....

Nice report Gene. Those are frog eggs i believe.Glad you caught some fish.As water temps continue to decline the fishing will only get better.

Thanks for the report Gene.

BTW, I've never seen a Fat Cat sunk like that before! :) Might be time for a Prowler or NFO for your buddy. ;)

I was wondering when you were going back up Gene, nice to see you got into some fish. I think I am putting off Davis this year for another trip to Kirman instead. You should come along, I'll give you a call.

Look a little irregular to be eggs, I'm thinking some kind of bulbing algae/aquatic plant? If they are eggs, I would think it would have to be some sort of amphibian but I don't think they'd be laying eggs right before fall/winter.

bubble algae (Valonia). Very common.

Gene,

I saw you on Thursday, nice to place a float tube with a face. That area you were fishing is a great spot, back in the day that was the only place I fished before the 97 treament. Glad you had fun and thanks for the report - Be there for the time change, the best time to be there period.

Jon.
