I had planned on fishing the early morning labor day bite but woke up way late. So after a nice breakfast, I asked around the house for a fishing partner and not surprisingly, only the little dude volunteered.
So off we went and braved the summer heat. I previously scouted an area with very little boat traffic and lots of panfish. Perfect for entertaining the little one. We fished tiny crappie jigs under a small bobber. I'd flick the set-up in the weed pockets and hand him the rod.
'Just watch the yellow ball and yank the rod as soon as it goes under'
He follows instructions well:

Fish to hand, the first of many...

He also caught a few of these:

And a bunch of these: (jumbo minnow?)

I was really tempted to toss some striper flies after seeing some nice marks on the finder but we were having too much fun with the other species. Maybe next time.
Off the water after about 3 hours of fun fishing. Stopped at the gas station on the way home for some popsicles and ice-cream. Perfect way to end trip.
