I went out one evening last week and landed a beautifull wild 4 pound adult steelhead. I was swinging a 10 ft sink tip and a streamer in fast water.

Flows are are at 1900cfs which makes wadeing much of the river pretty accessable.

The higher, cooler flows that we have had through much of the summer has brought in some good fish and we are just at the start of the run.

Either a standard 9' 5wt or small switch rod is perfect.

Small baitfish patterns or a size 10 or 12 nymph should find the fish.

I went out after work yersterday looking for halpounders and all I caught was a 3 lb pike minnow. I guess it's better tha being skunked.

Talking about the lower American, all over. I landed that 19"er about a month ago on a 5" striper fly. It's still a little early but this year could be different with flows etc... being what they were. Pretty sure I missed one top water too a few days before catching that fish and I'm not talking dry flies.
