For my younger son, that is :-)
He's been wanting to go fishing from the little boat for some time now. I gotta admit, I've been a bit selfish and went on a few solo fishing trips and had so-so results. He didn't flinch when I told him about the super early morning wake-up calls, cold and windy conditions and a possibility of getting skunked.
Saturday 5 am wake-up call and he was alert and ready to go. Got layered up and packed some essential snacks. On the water at daybreak with a bit of cold wind and overhead fog. Motored up to the first spot and it looked really promising:

First cast of his first striper trip and fish on. I quickly put the fish on the reel and handed him the rod.
Early morning work-out:

He was up to the challenge and quickly subdued the fish. Not a bad start:

We stayed in the same spot and hooked a few more stripes including this little guy that inhaled the fly:

We motored to a few more spots and found a few dinks here and there. The whole time we had a blast eating our snacks, looking at different birds and waterfowls, talking about dinosaurs, teen-age mutant ninja turtles, why gummy bears taste better than gummy worms, etc.
We ended the day with this little beauty. Caught on a fly tied with the colors he picked:

It was a fun first trip for him, and especially for me. He even got to 'drive' the boat for a bit:

Looking forward to the next one.
