Went out in Kona yesterday with Collins Illich of TFO flyrods. We were after a small blue marlin with the fly, but when none came in the pattern, we decided to chase some porpoise and got hooked up on some nice ahi. We were running a green stick and the ahi jumped and hit two squid dangling out of the water. 100lb top water bite! Well Collins had the chore of reeling in two of these gorillas at the same time.

He was pretty stoked to be hooked up, but it was a battle.

We could see color and got the first fish boated, then the second.

Next it was Katie's turn, she hooked up on a nice single ahi.

She did a great job and boated another nice 100+lb ahi.

They had a great time on the water. To top it off, Collins went out today and got a 500lb blue on conventional tackle. It was too big to cast a fly to, so he got it on a lure instead. It was his birthday yesterday and his first big ahi and first blue. Nice weekend for Collins. Kona is a great place for bluewater action. Mems.
