Advice needed

I want to take my son out to hopefully catch his first trout on a fly, but I've been fishing so little locally the last few years that I'm at a loss as to where to go. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Criteria are: within about 1-1/2 hours of Sacramento and either roadside or less than a mile or two hike, no wading needed, lots of backcasting room, and a good chance of catching a few fish on dry flies with minimal presentation skills. Either stillwater or stream is fine.
