I have two (2) spots left for the October 9 - 16 trip to La Paz. This is a great time of year for those BIG Yellow Fin tuna and dorado. You may even run across a marlin or two.
For more information, visit my web site www.fliesunlimited.com and click on the link October trip 2010, there you will see all the information
Hope to see you in La Paz

Just got a great report from my "bud" jonathan in La Paz. Lot's of yellow fin tuna, one to the gaff at 60lbs. Some big roosters, big fish to 70lbs, big dorado and even yellow tail.
If this keeps up, this could/will definitely be a HOT OCTOBER NIGHT. in fishing terms.
If this gets your interest, refer to the post above
A word on airlines.... Mexicana Airlines has cancelled flights and has filed Chapter ??. They will continue taking passengers that have already purchased there tickets. I'm still on the watch for Volaris Air, the mexican airline out of TJ. They look to be stable but one never knows.

Just returned from Punta Colorada -
We found out last Saturday that our Thursday flight back to the States (Mexicana) had been canceled - spent 19+ hours on flights set-up by Mexicana yesterday (Friday) , Los Cabos to Ft. Worth , Ft. Worth to Denver , stranded in Denver.... finally made it back around midnight . AA was the first flight , then two United .
BEWARE !!

For some strange reason, they cancelled flights to and from Sacramento. I think flights are still leaving the Fresno airport but they are not selling anymore tickets. Tonight, I saw Mexicana plane fly over the house and heading in the southerly direction. Could be the last of the flights, I don't know.
It's the craps when airlines cancel flights much less go out of business. The same thing happened with Aero California a few years ago. I had 24 people stranded in La Paz and had to get all of them to Los Cabos and booked on a flight home.

Still a couple spots left for the October trip. The airfare went down this week. It's now $464.00 instead of $565.00. It could go lower.
If your thinking about it or interested, don't hesitate. October is just around the corner

It's looking good for some big tuna and dorado in October. There are some 50-60lbs right now and by mid Sept and Oct. the big boys will hopefully be around to play. There were even dorado and wahoo. Damn, a month + days until I'm in La Paz. Gotta get back to tying up some flies. A restyled tuna tux is in the making. I'm testing the proto right now just to make sure it tracks and rides OK. Also some more prop flies will be tested.

Aloha Jay, I noticed on your site that you have Rainy's poppers, but you don't have the bubbleheads. That is my favorite popper for tuna. I use the pink one here in Hawaii. I was having trouble losing big ahi on a 3/0 hook, so now they make them on a 5/0 hook. You should try some out while you are down there. I hope you guys have a good time. Mems.

Hey Mems,
Hope all is well with you and your family.I tried the pink bubblehead poppers you gave me on the Lapaz dorado this year and they loved em!I didn't get to try them on ahi but there is always next year.Have you hung it up or are you still teaching?
Jim May
Hi Jim, I am still teaching. In fact right now I am grading papers. I am looking at a picture of your 70lb mahi on my wall in my classroom from your trip with Tony. I went out yesterday and got a couple of small ahi and a bunch of skipjack. It was a little rough and a little windy, so the flyrod stayed in its tube, but it was a beautiful day on the water none the less. Hope you are doing well and still landing the big ones. Did you get to go down to isle Cerralvo this season? Keep in touch, Don.

Mems,
I tried to keep the selection at a slow pace. I have a bunch in my own collection and they are going with me in October. No pinks but every other color under the sky. Opps I do have one pink one.
I can't wait too tangle with a 60lber, ummm maybe a 30lber. I'll be looking for the dorado (mahi mahi). Last year was a hoot, hooking up to 30 a day. They weren't big but they were fun.
Jay
Hey Jay, if you get a 60lber you will wish you had a 5/0 hook. I have not lost a fish to a bent hook since using that one. Good luck, we had fresh sashimi and seared ahi tonight for dinner. Wish I could go with you guys, but Luke and I will be chasing big browns in low water in Montana in the first week of october. Maybe we will do Cerralvo again next spring. Take care, Don.
