Yea!!!! Rooster fishin' is really fun. The first year I fished at East Cape, A 30+ pound Rooster swam right by my knees while I was blind casting in the surf. Got tangled up in my line and didn't even get a good shot at that fish.... buck fever, I guess....
At any rate, my knees no longer allow me to run at full speed for the distances required to fish these guys in the surf. Now it's panga fishin' at Cerralvo. 8-)

True story, last year was my first trip to fish in saltwater and all I wanted was a rooster, on my first cast I caught my first rooster. A little guy, but a rooster and I was totally stoked.

I remember that fish, what a proud Daddy you were. You must of nailed 12 species that day.

Hey Scott,... That Rooster's just about the right size to fit on one of Jay's pins.... :p
But, as you said, a Rooster is a Pez Gallo.... =D> =D> Good pic BTW!!!

I don't know what fish is the most fun to catch (and I have caught lots), but pez gallo and tarpon are right up near the top, if not at the top, vying for first. I would love to catch both a grande gallo and tarpon, and I'd love to be standing there when Meester Jay catches his 100 pounder. I told Jay that one of my best tarpon flies in Belize last November was his sardina, and I actually caught a rooster on one of the same flies I caught a tarpon on. How cool is that?
