Looks like I'll be in the Dunsmuir area the weekend of Sept 11. We will most likely be staying at the Cave Springs Resort.

Now, I haven't fished this area since the infamous "spill", and before that only a couple of times, so a few questions.
What fly recommendations? How is the fishing in this area? The Lodge states that it's "blue ribbon". Is it? And would Sept. be a good time of the year for fishing?

I'll be bringing my Sage 389LL setup.

On a normal year I like to fish the Upper Sac around June but this year it did not get down in shape till mid-July. Probably still OK.

On a normal year August/September can be tough.

I also like October too.

It is very low and hot up there in September, especially early September.

The Pit River could be very good then with the Isonychia may fly emergence.

I would go to the Lower Rogue or Lower Klamath then for Half-pounder Steelhead.

Bill, wife and daughter will be with me...................I think I'm stuck in and around the immediate area. :-(

I'll still give it (Sac) a try, thanks for the info.

If you contact Bob at the Ted Fay Fly Shop he will give you advice on the best part of the river to fish at that time.
