Decided to have a different type of fishing day by seeing different water. I had 4 different fish I was hoping to catch in one day and I felt pretty confident I was going to do it. At first I was going to start off with bass but after a good friend told be how good Spooner was fishing I decided to go Tiger hunting. I started at Spooner around 8 in the morning and as soon as I got to the water I saw fishing rising all over the place, things looked real good. I got in the water and on the first cast to rising fish I got my first lake caught rainbow of the day, my next cast brought me my biggest Tiger I have ever caught, it rose I threw to it and fish on. I kept getting fish on every cast for about 20 or so minutes. The only down side was the size of the fish, most rainbows were barely 8 inches. Also no matter how hard I tried I could not get another Tiger, but I was real happy with the one I got. I stay on the lake til about 1 or so since the bite continued all day, but all small fish. I also got a chub, which I didn't want to catch but knew it was bound do happen and luckily it seems the numbers are down from last year. Packed up and decided to head to some brookie water, but on the way I sat at the Carson on 89 and had lunch. Got to my brookie water only to see that it was real low, very interesting how some places got tons of water and others didn't. The water was lower than I have ever seen and for that reason I will not tell where it's at, it is too delicate right now and I will not go back til next year. But I got my brookies amongst the lightning and thunder storm, I love the high mountains. Now all I wanted was a brown and rainbow from the Silverfork, and once again I had a good feeling about getting both fish. Got the Silverfork and had both my fish in a matter or minutes, I also got my first scars from the Silverfork, when I went to step I thought I saw a rock, but it was actually a 5 foot deep hole, I caught myself half way so I didn't get soak. But boy does that water feel great, it seems a little warm for this time of year especially as high as it still is. Had a great day and plan to do it again some time.

If you are not fishing the streams in the sierras you really need to get up there, hike in a mile or so and enjoy the solitude of being surrounded by God's country. The sights, the smells, the sounds of the wind and all the creatures. It is almost surreal and I love it.

Nice fish and nice trip Scott! Congrats. Nothing like the siren call of the mountains this time of year :-)

Nice report and fishing adventure brother! Spooner is only 15 minutes from my house in Carson and yes, they are all small but fun! What no Cutty? :D:D:DWe camped at Blue Lakes this weekend and the thunderstorms chased me off the water both days. Seeing a 17-18" female Cutty fluttering in one of the inlet creeks at Blue was my highlight, next to having 3 boys throwing lures from the boat;) Thanks again for the pics and good luck, Eric:)

Hey Red I was thinking of going to the head waters of the Truckee for cutts but spent to much time at Spooner. Cutts are on the list for next weekend unles my wife decides she want to hike in to a lake with me.
