Every day is a new adventure and today it was trying to get bait. We where the last of four boats heading north to the top of Cerrralvo when Ramon radioed ahead only to find out there wasnt enough to go around. We stopped and trolled for a while hoping the bait boats would eventually work their way down o us. Never happened. We drove to the top of the island for a half load of peanut sardinas and then turned around and headed back to the fishing grounds. two and half hours in the boat before we actually started casting.Uugh!

If you remember last year`,s story about Steve Purpura getting his reel ripped off the pole by a big rooster leaving him holding only a cork handle, well today he did one better. Steve, just happened to have his favorite striper 9 weight on boardwhen a nice marlin of about 75-80 pounds cruised on in to the chum. Steve says "What the heck" and quickly hooks up tight. Yahooooooo! could be heard allover the water. We followed the action for about 45 minutes when Jim May reached down and touched the leader. Off again the marlin went twice more coming to the leader before wrapping Steve, sline around his rod and breaking off. No gaffing was allowed by Steve or else it would have been boated.

Bill Siler took a beautiful 44 pound dorado today and broke several more off using a blue pearly popper. Guess what, Steve also caught a nice dorado with a blue pearly pooper still stuck in it,s back.

Mike Pienta took a nice 26 pound rooster today along with lots of dorado and yellowfin, and the Fujii,s took several dorado and yellowfin as well.

Tomarrow is our last day here so I know it,ll be all out for the Grande,s tomaarow.

The way things are acting around here, it,s just getting started and October ought to be in full swing if you,re coming down.

More stories and pictures when I get back.
