The older I get the less I appreciate "progress."

I have mixed emotions about this. On one hand, the need to develop new and rapidly growing sources of sea food is obvious. A direct impact of this may be the lowering of pressures on natural Salmon stocks as sea food. We already have genetically altered agricultural products.
On the other hand, the safety of this sea food product has been under debate at USFDA for the last 10 years and under development for who knows how many years before that. However, there always seems to be some unanticipated impact on us or other life forms that accompany these improvements. A secondary issue is the need to raise these Salmon in fish farming operations.... :|
Regardless of how I feel about it, it's here. Even if it does have long term impacts, I probably won't live long enough for anything to happen that I'll have to worry about if I eat it.
