Water temp was pushing 80 degrees, the water was nasty and stinky so wear your waders if you go out. I tried subsurface to no luck, then switched to top water and got small fishing trying to grab my little popper. Since all I was seeing were little fish I put on a smaller foam fly that I know they will like. So then I started getting a bunch of little gills and crappie, and a descent little bass. As I was heading over to get out there were a bunch of conventional guys so I had to go around a big patch of weeds which meant I had to tie on my bigger popper again. I finally got a descent bass on top that went about 20 inches. Nice and fat just the way I like them.

I personally would not recommend any one going to do the fact of the water being so nasty, I do not plan on going out there again this year. I can only handle the smell of stinky water for so long.

And once you get your fill here, just head over to Cameron Park they have lots more geese.

Are they endangered? My thoughts on eating geese takes me back to the old story about cooking them (carp, gar, or anything else) on a board, throwing away the meat(?) and eating the board. Never developed a taste for the critters. How about a relocation project?

Pretty cool your putting the hurt on some big bass in public water. Keep at it.

Damn Scott, that last Bass is a nice one.=D>
Did you nail it where the gear guys could see?

Too bad about the stink, that place is in need of some serious habitat improvement. Twenty years ago, everyone I talked to about Mather said it was awesome, and that Bass like your big one were common place.
