I'm looking for a reel to carry a WF8F and 200 yds backing; will this reel work? Is it the English model? Interested in an English Battenkill LA III as part trade?

Thanks, LC. I found the specs on the III, appears the II would be a better fit for me. At 9.5 OZ it's definitely a saltwater reel. I'm looking for something for steelhead with an 8 wt for an old Powell 9'-6" 7/8 weight. I have an STH POP III that'll work, but it's an 8-10 wt like the Orvis and a bit heavy for the Powell. I have several Lamson Radius 3s that I use in a 6-7 wt and really like them, think I'll look for one in a 3.5. The 3's are rated as a 7/8 weight, but in my experience are better (capacity & balance) for my long 6 weights. You seem to know your tackle, Any opinion on the Battenkill LA III (1st generation, English). I picked it up as it had a new 8wt. Salmon/Steelhead on it and have less than $50 in the reel. While it appears to be a decent reel, it's definitley not an 8 wt, more like a 4/5.

Thanks for your interest. The CFO IV is more of a 6wt reel. Yes it is British made. The Odyssey III is a 8wt reel, perhaps the finest saltwater reel Orvis ever sold and definitely on par with Abel, Islander and Pate reels.

Interested in the Ari Hart reel. Was he still with Dutch reels when this was made. What line size and serial number?
