Anyone fly fish here? Any insight?

Nice smallmouth fishery there... you should be able to find some planters this time of the year too. I've only fished it a couple times with fly... mostly just kayaking around while camping with friends. A bugger or black leach, etc should be a good starting point. Maybe a small clouser for bass if I remember correctly. I only hung around the boat launch/day area side.

Yeah, we are going there to fish with conventional gear for bass, just wondering what the brown population is like, maybe more towards the upper end with a fly rod.

I appreciate the input!

Fished lower Scotts a few years ago. It was full of Browns. But I don't know what the access is like next to the 5 Mile House anymore. It was a rough road in.

Well, ended up leaving the fly rod at home. Fished the upper lake. The smallie bite was decent. probably 30 fish between the two of us on dropshot and jigs. Nothin big. The vast majority were 1.5-2.5lbs. Good day. Very pretty bass lake when it is full.
