Hello fellow trout foolers

I am assuming most of you are hitting up the streams and creeks in the mountains right now, and so have I [:)] My weekend started out horrible, as I broke my sage rod tip as I was up at a lake hunting for LHC..... Let's just say... As I attempted to net this huge slab... he made a run for it and all i heard was a snap. Oh well. After the lake, the next day I went to a small creek and enjoyed myself with numerous wild bows.

Here is my TROPHY trout that made my day :D

LHC? You mean LCT? BTW, those sure look like McCloud Redbands. Very pretty!

actually, they are not mccloud redband... these were out from seq. national park. im having a hard time figure out what strain these are too.. definitely not mccloud redbands though... its missing the orange / red onthe gill and under throat.. i just decided to call it the "other eagle lake" redband. lol

A-Ha, if it's Sequoia, then maybe Kern River Rainbow based on location?

i dont think its a kern river rainbow... dont know how they would manage to get thru to where I was. im not posting the location because the area nearby is loaded with what we all call poachers, so i apologize for that. :P But it would be nice to figure out exactly what it is... been looking at mccloud redband, kern river rainbow, pailute, kamloop, and identification doesnt match. the closest match is for the kern river rainbow, but its missing the yellowish hint on the belly.

Looks like a Golden, or a hybrid. Hard to tell till they are full grown.
If you visit the golden trout wilderness you will see a few of these down below the weir.
So co-operative, so purtty...

I'll bet a box of flies they are Kern River bows or at least highly influenced hybrids. To prevent McCloud based hatchery mutts from percolating into the Kern, there have been attempts to introduce Kern River Gilbertis in area tribs. Lots of local populations have taken hold. Were you within striking range of Quaking Aspen per chance? (please don't name the creek)
