.....with most of the run headed north to around Colusa on the Sacramento River.

May is the top month for this fishing and you need a jet boat or a small runabout.

We have fished in the past few years with the top fly fishing guide up there Shane Harden and caught almost "too many fish" in one day too.

Some of the Stripers go up the Feather and the American Rivers too.

According to the guys like Andy Guibord who fish the American River for years for Stripers April/May can be good in the lower river but June seems to slow. Their guess is that the Stripers are eating the smaller Shad and are not hungry for flies.

Last year in mid-July and August the Striper fishing in the Lower American River was fantastic so we should keep that in mind for this summer.

August on the Sacramento can be good too.

Most of the spawning run return to the bays and ocean beaches in July to feed up.
