Yuba Baetis and a fish

Lots of bugs and beautiful weather on the Yuba this afternoon. Caddis were plentiful, and nice fish were jumping for them. Small mayflies suddenly appeared in huge quantities and crawled all over me. Here are my waders at the water line.

Could not entice the jumpy fish to take anything, but managed this one and another similar one with Fox Pupahs and my old Battenkill bamboo rod. That old Hardy (with no brake) screamed a bit when this fish took a nice run into the current.

Fished the yuba on monday the tenth and saw a lot of may flies and a lot of trout up on them. We had several fish come to our flies just couldn't tighten up. Not much time to fish in between the downpours too. Saw a drift boat going under the bridge with nobody in it, only to see three guys chasing it down. They did get the runaway boat back but quite a show it was! Another reason to leave the boat at home! Water is up a little but the fishing is still good.
