Right now there are Shad, Stripers and Half-pounder Steelhead in the river but the big problem is the water flow has been going higher which messes things up for a while.
I think the big month for wadding for Shad in the river is June.
Stripers are in the river year round but they seem to get caught on flies in the warmer months like April though October.
Seems like Half-pounder Steelhead are in the river almost year round now? Warm mid-summer (July/August) is probably not the best for them though.
Then we have bass & pan-fish in the ponds along the river.
If you fish the Lower American River a lot you will get rewarded.
