Nimbus flows increasing 05/05/10 beginning 0100 from 3,500 to 4,000.

Its a great thing Jay. Not only will it bring in more shad and stripes, but the more comfortable the halfpounders feel the longer thay will stay in the system; and we have a good halfpounder run this year.

The high flows will cause the shad to head upriver. The Log Hole will be out of the question. The highest I've fished there is 4000 cfs and you can't wade out very far.

You need to be careful wading @ 5,000 cfs.

Hopefully it won't be up there too long.

Yeah, that means my spot is out of the question too, the lowest I'll wade it is at 4400 and that's pushing it.... but it might mean some fish will actually hold there this year....

REALLY good for nice stripes out of the boat... We spent most of last summer on the American when it was at 5,500 CFS.:unibrow:

No wading for me.... I have a hard enough time at 3,500, let alone 5,000! [-(

I'll stay in the boat, thank you very much! LOL :lol:

I'm just thankful we are fortunate enough to have one! :nod:

I was on the American yesterday. No shad for me. I talked with a dozen or so anglers. Fly fisherman, gear guys, everyone. Only one person reported catching shad. And he only caught two.

I did however catch some half pounders while trying to catch shad.

I saw one group of 3 on a boat pulling in 4-6 fish. They were too far away to see what they were catching, but I don't think they were shad. The fish were big. I'm gonna guess they were stripers by the difficult time they had getting them to the boat.
