I have never fished the Truckee and would like to next weekend either the 24th or 25th. Is there anyone here that wouldn't mind showing me around up there. I can not afford a guide, so I am looking for someone to be kind enough to help out a fellow fly fisher. I am more than willing to drive.

Come on, someone help out a brother.

Reference's available upon request. <---- In case you think I am some kind of a nut or something.

Thank you all for the assitance, I am really excited about fishing the Big T or the T or whatever nickname people give the Truckee.

Scott you read my mind on the Truckee.....I fished it a few times last year on the Nevada side from some of the popular parks and I caught a few small ones but nothing big. I was even thinking about giving it a try from my pontoon this year but I need to find out more info on how dangerous it could be and where to launch and take out from before I do that since Im kind of inexperienced on the toon. Let us know how you do.

Scott, that would be the Tuffy. If Matt's booked those days, give me a shout. A couple of tips and you are good to go.
Digger, The T is rated 2-3. But mostly at higher flows, (like now). The float and wade is mostly Hirshdale to above Floriston. The "Jaws" section, lurks there, not reccommended. You can take out above it and walk an 1/8th of a mile.
We mostly walk and wade. Plenty to be had without hanging it out.
Gird your loins.
But be prepared for fun!

Scott is a nut, he will bring his GPS, leaves landmarks in his photos of your "secret spots" and he wont share his jerky! And I still fish with him.

You forgot one thing Charlie, I will eat all your guacamole given the chance.

Hope someone helps out Scott. He took me out on the Silver Fork without even knowing me. As the beginner I am, he gave me a few tips and even a few special flies. Hope it works out for you.

Nightgoat is hooking me up. Should be a blast, but cold.

Hoser, you got a float tube, the bass fishing is taking off. Send me a pm when you are available and I will get you into some bass and gills.

Scott I wish I knew more about the Truckee......If I did I would invite you out but I pretty much fish it blind without really knowing what Im doing and once in a great while I get lucky. Im trying to talk my wife into letting me spend 75 bucks for a partial day instruction class on the Truckee from the Reno Fly Shop but since Im still not working it's a hard sell.
Im just lucky she still lets me go fishing whenever I can. Good luck out there....Hope you get into some nice ones.

Digger/Scott, I do some pro bono work. Let me know. The Truckee is challenging, but it ain't impossible. Well worth the work though.
