I had a guy call the shop a few days ago who was coming from the Bay Area to fish.

He ask me if he should go to Putah Creek or the Lower American River?

I told him we had had lots of reports of small Steelhead on the Lower American River in the afternoon/evening eating caddis.

He called me today to thanks me for that advice.

He hooked 7 fish from 11 to 17 inches on caddis dies. He was very happy......

( I just got my 2010 license and Steelhead punch card so I am getting out Saturday PM )

Hi: Bill's description is spot on about that short story. I called him, got the advice to hit the American, and hooked up 7 nice fish in a few short hrs. "Remote landed" two of them and five others were in the net.

Thanks, Bill!

Funny, I heard a guy complaining that a shop up north somewhere had told him the steelhead fishing was good but when he got there it was not. He said they were just telling him that because they wanted to sell stuff.

Well, there is a lot of reasons that he might not have caught any steelhead.
