Stumbled onto this cabana today while fishing the American:

It even had solar porch lighting!!

Someone spent some time building this Crusoe's Hideaway. Too bad it's not rainproof. Add a dish and a generator and grill some halfpounders!

Maybe they were out because they were down at the river fishing.

...or breaking into vehicles in parking lots?

Too bad that "Zippo Raids" aren't PC anymore.

I would be careful going near any homeless camps like that. They sometimes booby trap them. Somebody was killed by a booby trap near Santa Rosa several years ago.

Paul---I was unaware you were an "on the ground" Vietnam vet.

I am pretty sure I saw this camp about a month ago without the solar lighting. No one home that time either. The dog went nuts though. I would be all for a little gas and match but my worry would be the stuff inside might be from my truck when it got broken into 2 months ago.

Not trying to be narcisitic, just my 2 cents.

Frank,

No, I didn't serve where you were, but in the early 80's I was in on the original DOJ C.A.M.P. program and Zippo Raids were conducted on stacks of "agricultural products" that weren't saved as evidence.

Thank you & others for being on the ground.

Curious conversation going on here .

I spent 100+ days a year on the lower A. for six years straight -I met and interacted with quite a few homeless folks and never had a problem w/ a single one of 'em . I don't recall seein' any of them high/breaking into anything , either .

Wish I could say the same about the youngsters who used to party down there . The people I saw starting fires/breaking bottles/littering/fighting were all gangster-types , or college-aged people .

Just my opinion here ...... I think if I were homeless , I'd rather camp at the river instead of pissing in doorways in midtown .

Are you saying I shouldn't piss in doorways anymore?

Appears to be the advanced form of riparian rodent, "Beaverus Humectioid Free-Medicus". They were rampant on the Truckee River in Reno/Sparks 20-years ago.
