I used this fly on a river in S Idaho twice in the last month . I used it with a Black copper john dropper 25'' below with a very small split shot 3'' above the C.J. I landed some really nice fish both rainbows and browns . The two largest (browns) i lost as i was landing them . I bought some bad fluorocarbon that would separate like string cheese .. I lost some really nice fish before i noticed it was bad .. Never had fluorocarbon do that even some many years old . ?? Most of the fish took the dropper but i had 5 nice rainbows and one brown take the dry . This fly really floats well and very easy to see . It has a hollow plastic ball on top .

Pardon the dumb question but is the hollow plastic ball primarily for floatation or visibility  The fly certainly has enough floatation built in to keep it high and dry without the it....

Probably both... nothing like a foam fly that packs it's own "thingamabobber" on it's back. That thing is a hi-viz pack-mule!

Yep it has a plastic thingamabobber tied into it .

With the small split shot and copper john i need both the foam and thingamabobber .
