Shad fly swap

I have come to learn the love for the stinky, slimy, hard hitting fish. So how about a fly swap with your best shad flies. It will be open to the first 13 people, so everyone tie 12 flies. After you tie your twelve flies add a tag to them with the name of the fly and your name then send them off to me. Deadline to have them at my door will be May 13th. These are usually real easy flies to tie so the deadline should be no problem for everyone.

OK, I'm in...I will tie the most effective shad fly from last year...it has no name but is similar to the Ice Cream Cone of Cary Boyden....call it UV shad fly

I am happy to announce that Jeff C. has taken the final spot, and the reason I am happy is because this guy puts in more time for shad on the American than anyone else I know, beside guides. And his fly is deadly.

So start tyeing, the shad are just around the corner and I want to catch some.

Hey Dean the easiest way to deal with postage is to provide a self addressed envelope. If you don't do that just add enough money to cover return mail.

Got some flies in the mail today, Jeff C.'s awesome Bloody Maria, I can say awesome because I used it to great success last year. And flyfish707 has sent what I believe to be an incredible fly, I know mine will get used alot, and thanks for the extras.

Flows are up and shad should be here any day. I am plan to start ifshing for them next week myself.

Got some flies today from flydabbler, they are very clean looking. You tied some nice flies Dean. How is everyone else coming along. Mine will be finished this week. No reports of shad yet, but they are just around the corner. I might head out Thursday after work to see if I can find some.

I'm half way done. I tied 'em in 3 different sizes before I settled on a 4th size that looks right to me. I think they're ugly but I've heard they work really well. :lol:

Well, I've tied up about 30 different prototypes that I'm just not liking. Although, I've now stocked up with more weird materials than I've ever had before. Anybody need fluorescent stretch lace??? I think I may have finally come to grips with something I can live with, so it'll be a couple more days before they're done.

The nice thing is, and I was reminded of this yesterday, "Don't overthink a shad fly." ;-)

I received nrvi's flies today, a differnt take on the wet pinky style of shad fly. Should work very good, can not wait to find out.

Shad are here, Guppy caught the first one last night that I know of. I received some sweet green shad flies today from jburge. Looks like I timed this fly swap good. Once I get all the flies I will take a photo of each one and post a pic, then off to the post office I go.

Thanks for the extras John, I am real tempted to use one of them today after work on my little bluegill pond before I go to school.

I got Guppy's flies in the mail today, another fine selction of pink shad flies.

Only flies I have not seen are from Steelhead Guide, I have sent him a PM but have yet to hear back. If I do not hear from him by Wednesday the flies wil go out on Thursday. I will post pics of the flies with names hopefully by Wedbesday.

Thanks to everyone that joined, I think you will like these flies. Now if the shad would just show up in bigger numbers.
