Spring is here! The weather is beautiful and the fishing is excellent in northern California and southern Oregon right now. The best places to be right now are the Lower Sac, Applegate, and Upper Rogue. Trout fishing in the intermountain area is just around the corner.

New Destination:

Battle Creek's Eagle Canyon

Be one of the first to fish three private miles of this outstanding wild trout stream! Located in the foothills of Mt. Lassen, Battle Creek is just 25 minutes from Red Bluff, yet runs through a remote and wild canyon. Battle Creek has a great population of resident trout. On exploratory missions last fall, Andrew hooked countless wild trout on big bushy dry flies. This is the perfect place to bring your three- or four-weight fly rod and work your way upstream all day. This great stretch of private water is booked exclusively by Confluence Outfitters. Look for fishing reports on our website starting early May. Call or email for guided fishing rates.

Featured Destination:

Lower Sac

Trout fishing has been great on the Lower Sac from Redding down to Red Bluff recently. There are good hatches of march browns, pale morning duns, brachycentrus caddis, and baetis. In the next few weeks we will start to see the first golden stones, also. March and April are a great time to fish the Lower Sac. Hatches are intense, so the nymph grab is very good and the chance at having good dry fly fishing is excellent.

Featured Destination:

Clearwater Lodge at the Pit River

Gino, Jon & Andrew guide extensively for Clearwater Lodge during the trout season. This year Clearwater is offering a free Orvis Helios fly rod for all guests booking a 4 night, 3 day trip. The trip must be Sunday-Thursday. For full details, contact Clearwater Lodge. Booking a 3-day trip is a great way to experience all the great rivers near Clearwater Lodge. We fish the Pit, Fall, Hat Creek, and McCloud. There are also many lesser-known venues like Baum Lake and Burney Creek. May and June are an excellent time to be at Clearwater. May has the best hatches of big bugs, with giant stoneflies and green drakes on many of our rivers.

Featured Destination:

Klamath Stonefly Hatch

The Klamath River has the best stonefly hatch in California. During late May and early June, golden stoneflies and giant stoneflies (also called salmonflies) hatch in large numbers. These big bugs bring trout large and small to the surface in good numbers. Best of all, we can float the river and cast our big dry flies towards the bank in style! Click here for more info.

Hats!

We've made it big time now so we ordered some Confluence Outfitters logo hats. If you beg your guide and behave yourself on the river all day long you might get one. There is a limited supply, so start working your guide soon. To the left, Mackenzie Harris models one of our new hats.

Birth Announcement!

Andrew and Katie are proud to announce the birth of their second daughter, Madison Mary Harris, on February 1st. Madison weighed 8lbs 8oz and was 21 inches long. She likes to sleep all day and party all night. Hopefully that doesn't last! Mackenzie is adjusting well to being a big sister. She wakes up every morning asking for "baby" or "sissy."
