I was wondering what some of you do to protect your fly rods in terms
of locking them up, etc. Other than a behemoth-sized safe, any other
inexpensive ideas?

Putting them in the garage is ok, but somebody can always grab and
dash if they were able to get in.

Thoughts/opinions?

I hang them in the garage. I have a 12 gauge alarm system.

Mine are in the house and my German Shepherd, who is in her prime, gives no one the benefit of the doubt, and at her perfect weight at 110 lbs, is under strict orders not to let anyone other than family touch 'em.

Mine are in the house protected by 3 attack cats. They are stealthy and have sharp claws. If you happen to get past my cats you will have to deal with my friends Colt and Winchester, and all their friends.

Lol...you guys are bustin me up.

Okay...I'll leave it up to my wire-haired dachsund and my persian
cat sans claws. At least my wiener dog has a bark that seems like
5x his size.

Woof.

in the garage, in a good neighborhood. No probs. Bad guys stay away, cuz they know if they start any stuff here, the po-po ain't gonna put up with it.

You can get a locking gunsafe that bolts down for around 150 bucks and if you have thousands in fly gear it's a good idea. Also your homeowners will cover it more quickly if they know you tried to protect your toys. If you don't have homeowners get renters insurance. Also take photos and make a log of all your expensive stuff that you wound want replaced if you have to make a claim.8-[
