These pictures are for all the guys floating the river with those stupid indicators. I have been on the river about two days a week for the last three months. Every day there is surface action if u know where to look. All of these fish hit the skawala dry or a mayfly. The Yuba is one of the most amazing dry fly streams in northern california.

the kid.
look for me on the bank.

Kid,
dry flies are great. But nymphs catch fish (period). Obviously as do dry flies.

Nice fish, to each their own!

I'll wave to you on the bank when I float by in a boat with my stupid indicator in the water in Late October - November and we can compare notes. Sound fair?

Also, swinging leech patterns ....... stupid or no? Gotta make sure I fit in amongst the almighty.

Don't be an elitist, it comes off as snobbery.

I'd rather be associated with using indicators than be one of those tweed and wicker fly snobs! Isn't it really about the fishing? By the way, those are some pretty fish.

LOL....Well, I'd rather be sporting comfortable and breathable waders than
brown butt-hugging neos. I'll be done fishing with a cold beer already in hand while
you're still struggling and fighting to get yours off. Then we can all look down our
noses with disdain at your Wal-Mart taste. Tsk tsk tsk. ;) ;)

IMHO, indicator fishing takes just as much talent, if not more, than dry flying...
stack mending, getting a good dead drift isn't as easy as it looks etc. For the
record, i rarely use one, but it's not easy just the same.

Nice dinks Kid.

Here are some Indicator Fish for you. I love throwing dries as much as any body else but there is no doubt that you catch bigger fish nymphing. I LOVE MY STUPID INDICATORS!

Fished the Yuba yesterday floated from the bridge to the takeout. I can't say that either the nyphing or dry fly action was great. I had two take on nymps and we started fishing dries about 1030 until the end of the day. I had 7 solid eats on the dry and missed every one of them.... Yes I know I suck...

I don't post much but wow, slight breach of etiquette with the "kids" statement. I think he watched A River Runs Through It too many times.

only one post about "THEKID" taking 2 pictures of a fish on dry rocks. figured there would be more than that. he probably has no idea what he did was ethically wrong. hey THEKID if you are going to start a post like you did, pretty much calling indicator users stupid, then you better make sure you dont post something that is unethical. especially puttin up 2 pics of fish on dry rocks. you will have no weight behind your post if you do that. you are taking the slim coat of the fish and could kill it.

there is a place and time that a dry will out fish a indicator rig. but ill take my nymphs over drys on the yuba any day.

Love the hat as well. Another reason not to get off the freeway at Churn Creek Road.

Brian is right, you should try your best not to place a fish on dry ground to take a pic. Always keep the fish in the water when taking a picture like that, and always wet your hands before handling a fish. But, like all of us, we have made mistakes, and fishing is a learning process. I to myself have taking pictures of fish on dry ground until I realized what harm it can do to the fish. It just shows lack of experience, just like saying indicators are stupid. Nymph indicator rigs are awesome but, we all know streamers conquer all! :)

This is amazing!!! "TheKid" drops a post calling out indicator users with a fin clipped turd of a yuba bow he drug up on the rocks with his walmart neos, an old chico fly shop/powell rod, and a clankety reel...again this is amazing. Love that someone has that much of a nut sack to drop a post like that. Bravo young one... bravo.

Be careful Hogan.

You're describing me and several of my friends here.

Just how do you define "elitest"?

elitest??? you gotta be kidding me...you don't even know me and your dropping elitest on me....Seriously???

I don't call anybody anything. To each their own man. everybody roles how they want and can.

You may have miss understood - I love the guys post. I am stoked on the fact he dropped that post in everyones face. More power to him - to many people criticizing and talking smack these days, just go fish

I'm a little late, but is there something wrong with using a "Chico era" Powell rod of the IM6 variety attached to an old Hardy reel ? I can't think of a better casting / balanced setup for my casting style, which aint that great to behold. They're a very utilitarian rod, durable and priced right, if you can still find one. Love mine. And of course, I only fish dries, wets, nymphs and streamers. Hell, sometimes I even stoop to using rubber worms for springtime bass, but that's another of my many "issues". Lighten up folks, springtime is busting out all over the place! Fish! Fish! Fish!

Hmmm?? Hogan, which is it... You like the kid talking smack or there's too many people talking smack? Seems to me the kid took the gloves off first and got what was coming to him.

Yeah and hooks are bad too! They hurt the fishes mouth and sometimes leave permanent damage. http://smiliesftw.com/x/Smiley-Facepalm.gif

Who cares its just fishing. No matter how you do it your still putting a hook into a fishes mouth. The way you do it doesn't make you any better then anyone else

So... instead of sitting at the computer arguing about whats what. Why not go fishing while its still legal in the state of California?

Remember there are bigger problems then the method of fishing someone chose.

Enjoy..... I'm going to get another beer!

Love the rocky mountain anglers hat. Been into that fly shop in Boulder many times, my sister lives about 2 blocks away from there. Great little shop. Gonna have to get back out there this spring for some action on the Big T and the Poudre.

It should be fine, the section below estes is a tailwater so its relatively protected from the extremes of runoff, thats not to say it never happens.

Love that river in May-June.

I learned how to flyfish on those rivers about a year and a half ago. I've been back a couple of times. Late summer hopper droppers. I cant wait for August!

Dont miss Nordy's BBQ, they have the best radio spots. Right Eric?
