This app is not new, and some of you may have used this for years, but I'd like to share info on a program that I can't live without (fishing-wise).
USAPhoto Maps is a program that downloads and organizes TerraServer topo maps and aerial photographs.
From the website:
Downloads USGS aerial photo and topo map data from Microsoft's free TerraServer website,
# saves it on your hard drive, and creates maps with GPS accuracy. You can: Scroll and zoom
# See latitude/longitude
# See USGS Landmarks
# See TIGER/Line streets
# See elevation and contour lines
# Add waypoints, routes, and text
# Go to any address, populated place, USGS landmark, or lat/lon in the U.S.A.
# Transfer waypoints, tracks, and routes to and from most GPS receivers
# Receive/Transmit/Show Ham Radio APRS locations, messages, etc.
# See your GPS location

Used in conjunction with an add-on (again, free) app named TerraFetcher, one is able to download both the topos and aerial photos for specific counties, states, or regions as an unattended batch script.

For me, the biggest advantage to this app over GoogleEarth is the ability to store the maps and photos on my hard drive. I don't need an internet connection to use the app.

I have all of Northern California, and most of Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming, both topos and aerial photos, and it only takes up 15 gigs on my laptop.

I have no connection with either app, I'm just a big fan and thought someone may find these as valuable as I do.
