I need some advice to limit down my rod searching. I'm look for a rod that is leaning towards a scandi type of spey rod....If anyone with any info, it will help....Right now I have the TCX 12'6 7wt in mind....but will be open for other opinions.:fish::fish:

One might also consider the Beulah 12'7" classic 7/8 It matches well with its Beulah Elixer full line or head only. It also goes with the Rio AFS head. It also depends on the size of rod you want. Length and line weight. Meiser and Anderson makes some great faster rods so talking to them would be very helpful. Mike

If you can afford one, it might be all the rod you may need for late fall/winter and early spring in N Cali and SW Oregon.

Rio's 550 Skagit Flight Head and Rio's 15' Versi 1.5 ips Leader and 3' of tippet work very well with my terrible casting skills. Rio's AFS 7/8 F head was a total loss for me. I'm trading that AFS for the AFS 8/9 F. That isn't much of an issue now as the Flight Skagit 550 with the Rio Spey 15' Versi Floating Leader works.

I'm sure that it is my poor casting skills with shorter leaders where I snap off flies. I can leave the 7' and 10' poly leaders home with this rod. The 12' Versi/Poly leaders and Meiser's 12' zinc have less of a snapping off flies problem, but it still happens. With the 15' Spey Versi Leaders, I haven't snapped off a fly.

NorCal Tom has one of these rods and is working with some different lines.

Do consider the Beulah 12' 7" classic spey. The Elixir 435 head with a Ridgeline running line and 15' mono/versi leaders is a nice scandi setup. I also opted for a Skagit Compact 510 with 15' Rio sinktips. Beulah also offers their Tonic in 485 or 540. So far sooooo sweet. I did consider the TCX "Death Rod" but decided with my limited spey casting experience I probably couldn't take full advantage of this rod. When next year rolls around I may have BOTH! Happy huntin........
