Can anyone suggest a spot to try in Redding or nearby? On foot (wading).

Thanks,

Mike

If you drop by The Fly shop in Redding they will give you a map and circle the areas that are safe and productive. Even at these flows it's a powerful river, so be careful. I'd take a staff and wade conservatively...-Mike

there are a few more places other than the convention center...cypress street bridge, deschute bridge, mouth of clear creek, and more...stop in at the fly shop..these places arent exactly secret anymore and they will draw you a map.

The Lower Sac is pretty tough to wade. Your time would be much better spent going to a different river like the Yuba, Trinity, Upper Sac, Pit, etc. The reason being is that the majority of the fish that we catch on the Lower Sac tend to be out in the middle of the river. Thus making it almost impossible to get a good drift where the majority of the fish are.

If you are determined to go then here are the spots that you are going to have the most success. Posse Riffle, Little Alaska (side channel down river of Turtle Bay exhibit), Riffle above Deschutes Bridge, Riffle above Bend Bridge, plus those other spots people have already mentioned.

PM me if you need more help.
