Beginning Fly Tying at Kiene’s
Instructor: John Daniels

If you are ready to take the next step in your fly fishing career, then it is time to learn how to tie your own flies. Tying flies is both fun and easy and a great way to gain access to patterns not generally available in fly shops. By the end of the 4 3-hour sessions, you will learn all the basic techniques needed to fill your fly boxes with your own creations. The class will include discussions of materials, tools, wet and dry patterns, and basic aquatic entomology. All materials are supplied by the instructor, but students are required to bring their own tools (see list below).

The class is $75 for 4 3-hour sessions, every Wednesday, from 6:00-9:00pm at Kiene’s Fly Shop, beginning February 3rd, 2010 and ending February 24th (class dates: Wednesdays, February 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th, 2010). Minimum 4 studnets, maximum class size is 6 students, and preregistration is required.

If interested, email the instructor: john.e.daniels@sbcglobal.net.

Required tools list:
- fly tying vise
- bobbin
- scissors
- half-hitch tool and/or whip finisher
- hair stacker
- hackle pliers
- 6/0 black thread

Note: Students will receive a 10% discount on tools and materials at Kiene’s Fly Shop purchased during this course, courtesy of Bill Kiene.

Opennings still available for the February Beginning Fly Tying class at Kiene's. This might be the last class before the start of the season so if you are interested, now's the time.
