I dug out my old fly magazines from the mid to late 90's. I grant you the LL's are great rods and I covet them but $400 is within $50 of what the cost new. Obviously, there's margin's for cost differentials but what the heck? Apparently, it's a seller's market but with this economy that's hard to believe. $400?????

If its the 389 LL then I think 400 is pretty reasonable, especially if its only been used 10 times or so. Lately Ive seen this model go for anywhere from 400 on up and even seen a couple go over 500 dollars. There a very popular and sought after rod. Seeing that there no longer available I think the supply and demand has more to do with the price of what there worth. Thats assuming it is the 389 model?? Even with the economy when it comes to this rod, a sellers market for sure.

If the 3wt LL's are as sweet as my 5wt this rod would be one of the finest small stream rods ever made.

If it's the Sage LL 389, that is a very high in demand rod. If you can pick one up for $400 clams, you'd better hurry! I have ton's of 3 WT's that I hardly use or else I'd be a knocking on his door!

I've got the 379 and the 490 LL and want the 389. I just can't justify 400 clams at this point.....sad.

I bought a brand new 389 LL last year for $500, the full price on the sticker. It was new in the tube with the warranty card, which the retailer filled out and sent in. I saw it one day when the owner pulled out some old rods out of the back of the shop. I only fished it a couple of days last summer, caught a few nice fish on hoppers, a pleasure to fish with this rod.
