My buddy Scott just sent over some classic pics of his dad Larry Green (standing next to Roland-nice dew) and his montly crew. The pic of Conrad was taken at SFO just off runway 2. You can just make out a tail from a jet. Blanton and the boys used to get into them back in the day at the dock that supports the runway lights. BTW Rob, Lefty wants his hat back. Scott has miles of classic film and images his dad collected during his fishing and hunting days as a outdoor writer and radio host. I will help Scott produce a series of shows from radio and tv of his dad's archives from 60's and 70's.

All us fly fishers with grey hair know exactly who Larry Green was "back in the day".

Larry wrote a lot of wonderful fly fishing articles that inspired us "wan-a-bees" back in the 1960s and 1970s.

Larry wrote a really cool article about fishing some special dries out on the shallow flats in the SF Bay for Stripers many years back.

I know Larry retired to Dunsmuir, California. He was a part of the fly fishing history of California.

Michael Fong was another inspiring outdoor writer who did lots for fly fishing in California.

I was lucky to have been able to spend some time with these old timers who are gone now but not forgotten.

I can imagine an old rustic fly fishing lodge up in heaven along a beautiful river with guys like Andy Puyans, Bob Nauheim, Michael Fong and Larry Green sitting around the fireplace after dinner telling some great stories of their wonderful fly fishing here on earth. These guys had wonderful lives.

It is really hard to believe they are gone now......

Larry Green was one of my heroes when I was a little boy. I remember listening to the KCBS "Fisherman's Forecast" at 5:50am when driving with my Dad to some Trout water that seemed to take 5+ hours on a weekend. Great memories and a legend!

That was a good post Bill. It confirms my suspicions that when you die and you are deserving you will return to the Upper sac....Frank
