So, I've got this 9ft Pontoon (steel frame) w/ a mount and have been threatening to get little motor for it (Particularly after the Goethe to Discovery row-a-thon last summer) Any suggestions?

I've looked into them for my pontoon. I like the Minn Kota. Depending on the boat they have there recomendations on size. I think my boats calls for up to a 30# thrust.

I use a 34 (36?) MinnKota on my 9' Fishcat. It moves me around in the river just fine. You can motor upriver in the A pretty well as long as the flows aren't too high.

Be aware that even a trolling motor requires registering your boat with DMV.

And welcome to the board!

My 9' aluminum frame Outcast has a 38# thrust...moren' enough. I raced my buddy who has a 30# thrust, weighs 50# less than me, has a steel framed 'toon, and we were dead even. Go at least 30# and you'll be fine. Get a good battery and charger...those are equally important.
