Went to Watt today needed some more fly's just got my membership with CFFU and you get 6 free fly's from three local shops, so being how i wanted to go to Goethe Park (AKA American River Bend Park) it only made since to me to go to Watt today so i could stop by the shop and get some fly's and then go to the river with out running out of day light. So I fished under the bridge with a size #10 bird's nest, ( I told everyone on here the other day the fish i caught was on a size #6 bird's nest, that was a mistake it was on a size #10 or 12) fished there for about 30 mins 3 to 3:30, then i wanted to see if i could get to the other side so i drove across the bridge to see if i could get off on the North Watt Exit to access the other side i could not find a way to access it other then the only way i know of is walking across the bridge dose anyone know how to access it from driving ?
One of the things that i did do different today was that i had a really short leader section on the end of my sink tip, (made for easier casting with the sink tip) been through there with a long leader just the other day so i figured i would try this. I forgot what length you use for shallow water and deep water tell I got home and looked at my book and notes, shorter in pocket water and longer in deeper waters. I always like to know WHY :). So here's the why. Out of the book I got from Kiene's titled Fly-Fishing Handbook Second Edition so if it's not what you agree with sorry lol just taking something form a book and sharing it for those out there that are like me how like to know the WHY. Short leader makes a fly sink faster on a sinking fly line, a long leader makes a fly sink slower.
