What a awesome morning today went to Paradise beach to day around 7 walked up to the bridge the fog was on the water very cool looking did not catch anything all day today. I don't know if i am getting my fly to the bottom am still using a sink tip and am just not feeling it tick on the bottom :-k. fished there for about a hour then got my starter replaced on my car. Then went to Goethe Park nice spot never been there and really checked it out. ran into a guy there who showed me some areas out there and he showed me what a redd looked like and seen a salmon swimming in it scoped out the area for about a hour then headed off to Watt fished about 3 ish using a Wooly Bugger egg pattern with a egg dropper attached to it No luck, The cool thing about the day was as i was walking back to my car a guy came up to me exited and was asking me ? about whats in right now and what i was using as he was looking at my setup, at first i was thinking to myself wow calm down buddy :) but then i quickly remembered what its like fishing some were you dont know anything about and just wanting help so i took the time and talk to the guy told him were some good spots were that i know of not that i have caught fish there yet :) had a map of the AR from Kienes, give him the number to the shop and told him how to get to the shop and if he needs anything to go seem them there friendly and no pressure. Then told him how to get to Goethe Park and gave him a Wooly Bugger egg pattern fly. Then he asked me if i was coming to Watt tomorrow and that he was up here from LA visiting here's sister and i told him i would be at Goethe Park, could tell he wanted to have some one show him a spot so i asked him if he would like to meet up and he was very thankful so we traded numbers.

DJ,.... Good on you for spending time with a newbie to the area. Your fishing Karma is high and you will be rewarded. Just keep up the efforts. 8)

If you're using a sink tip line, what is the length sink rate of the tip section  If you're not getting down enough, you might have to add some weight to the leader (split shot, etc.). The length of sink tips varies on fly lines. Some are 10', some 15' and longer.... Knowing the length of the head and the sink rate will allow/help you adjsut to fish in the "zone" most of the time.... :D :D

I like your reports! Refreshing to hear that we are not the ONLY one to not catch fish ALL the time. ;-) :-)

Personally, when swinging, I don't think it is necessary to get down to the bottom where you are actually bouncing off the rocks. Depending on the structure of the floor, that may actually be a bad idea.

BTW, what fly are you using and what material is it? Even with a sinktip, you may not be pulling it down sufficiently. Some flies are simply tied with too much material and tend to stay high.

The sink tip i was using was 15 FT 5.6 rating and a Wooly Bugger don't know what it was made out of.

Thanks to all for the great feed back and glad to see that my reports or helping some.
